Automotive Service Technology

The Automotive Service Program is a comprehensive two-year course designed to prepare students for entry-level positions in the automotive repair industry or for advanced post-secondary training.

Accredited by ASE/NATEF, the program covers seven key areas: brakes, steering and suspension, engine repair, engine performance, heating and air conditioning, electrical/electronic systems, and manual drivetrains and axles.

Students engage in a blend of classroom instruction and hands-on laboratory work, learning both the theoretical and practical aspects of automotive systems. They will become proficient in using service and repair software, sourcing automotive parts, and handling repair orders and billing.

The curriculum also emphasizes industry-relevant math skills and essential written and verbal communication, while teaching scientific principles such as viscosity, thermal expansion and contraction, pressure movement, and pressure/temperature relationships.

This program provides a solid foundation for various careers in the automotive and transportation industry, including parts store employees, mechanical engineers, service writers/advisors, and technicians. Graduates will be equipped with the diverse skills needed to diagnose, repair, and maintain today’s advanced vehicles.
